There is a unique and profound quality to the deliberate affection shown by grandmothers, often referred to by various names such as Granny, Nana, Gigi, Grandma, or Grammy. Regardless of the title, their love and care significantly complement that of their parents.

This initiative aims to alter the life paths of these children, as the impact of childhood poverty on educational success is both severe and long-lasting. Data indicates that children and adolescents from low-income backgrounds who participate in educational programs, including tutoring, tend to achieve higher test scores, are more likely to complete high school and college, enjoy greater lifetime earnings, and are less likely to engage in criminal activities.
In addition to offering educational resources through Grammy's KIDS, the program also provides support services to help parents enhance their skills and improve their economic circumstances.

Afterschool activities play a crucial role in the development of youth by offering avenues to pursue interests, acquire new skills, foster social relationships, enhance self-esteem, and improve academic outcomes. These structured environments outside of regular school hours facilitate growth in various dimensions, including social, emotional, and cognitive development, while also helping to mitigate risky behaviors and promote physical well-being. However, many parents find it challenging to afford these essential afterschool programs, such as sports, due to prohibitive costs. Grammy's KIDS advocates for all children to develop social skills and, more importantly, to shield them from negative influences that lead to risky behaviors.
